Greater China Talent Management Summit 2007
6 Jul 2007, (Friday)

The beginning of the new millennium has seen much
discussion on the "war for talent" - employers
have had a great deal of trouble retaining and engaging
skilled workers. Replacement costs for management level
positions can sometimes exceed 150% of the annual salary.
The emerging need for multinational corporations to
allocate more resources to attracting, retaining and
motivating key talent is obvious.
While the shortage of talent in developed countries
is predicted to remain stable due to economic recovery
creating more jobs, it poses a challenge to developing
countries like China, which attracts flocks of businesses
and an abundance of investment opportunities each year.
Rapid economic growth and a growing demand by the workforce
to move into higher value-added functions has put increasing
pressure on employers. The challenge of attracting
and retaining staff, with the right skills at mid-level
and top-level leadership, in the Mainland has become
continuously more and more difficult to surmount. The
situation is now critical, and it is estimated that
China will need 75,000 top-level executives with global
experience by 2010, which is 15 times more than it
currently has.
The "war for talent" creates long-term problems
on a global level. There are a multitude of issues
to be addressed - the demand for nurturing and recruiting
key talent, and most importantly, the retention of
talent. There is no doubt that effective talent management
strategies should be made the top priority on the HR
agenda in order to make sure key employees are working
towards these long-term goals. It is not only a matter
of pay but of motivational and educational strategies,
whether that be sponsorship of executive education
to enhance personal growth or defining a career path
by attractive packages.
It is these challenges that the "Greater China
Talent Management Summit 2007" will showcase and
drive forward. In this famed HR industry event, organised
by the leading talent recruitment website A-Performers.com,
esteemed speakers from logistics, aviation, electric,
public relations and human resource industries are
invited to share their views and innovative ideas on
talent management. Participants will be able to gain
industry insights from these inspirational role models
and get practical advice on measures they can take
to meet and overcome the high-level challenges in
their own practices.
The event, which comprises three parts, the conference,
networking luncheon and exhibition, is set to attract
HR directors, managers and business leaders from all
over Greater China. It will serve as a platform to
disseminate the latest market intelligence among senior
executives as well as to enhance the business ties
of industrial practitioners.
