Speakers' Biography
Ms Shirley Chan Director, Strategy and Operation of JobMarket Publishing Limited
Ms Chan has wealth of professional experience with multi-national companies in
the industry of telecommunication and e-businesses before joining Sing Tao News
Corporation in 2000. Since her appointment with the group, Ms Chan has been responsible
to lead the online development team of JobMarket and oversee 3 recruitment and
education websites. Over the past 10 years, Ms Chan has accumulated much management
experience in transforming innovative business concept to practice; by managing
the product creation and effective implementation of innovations within the organization,
and ensuring profitable business returns.
Ms Chan graduated from University of British Columbia, Canada with a Bachelor
Degree in Commerce. She later gained a MSc. in Financial Management from University
of London.
Professor Patrick Y.K. Chau Director, Professional Development,
Hong Kong Computer Society
Dr. Chau is a Professor in Information Systems at the Faculty of Business and
Economics of the University of Hong Kong. His teaching and research interests
are in management of information systems, supply chain management and e-commerce.
In addition to his teaching and research work, he has directed the undergraduate
business programs of the University for four years from 2001 to 2005.
Professor Chau obtained his doctorate from the Richard Ivey School of Business
at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. From 2001 to 2003, he was the Chairperson
of the e-Business Specialist Group of the Hong Kong Computer Society. He founded
the Hong Kong Association for Information Systems in 2006 and is Vice-President
of the (worldwide) Association for Information Systems and President of the Chinese
Association for Information Systems.
Dr. Johnny K.C. Ng Chairman, Titanium Group (NASDAQ BB: TTNUF)
Dr. Ng attained a Post-doctor research from Beijing Tsinghua University in 2004,
specialized in pattern recognition and biometrics. He graduated from the Hong
Kong Polytechnic University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and
in 2002 with a Doctor of Philosophy degree. Dr. Ng is the committee member of
various professional bodies. He was awarded "Ten Outstanding Young Digi
Person" in 2000 and "Innovative Entrepreneur of Year 2003".
Under his leadership, Titanium Group has been named to the Deloitte “Technology
Fast 50 in China 2006” placing 28th out of 50 with growth of 234 percent over
a three-year period. This prestigious annual award honors the fastest growing
Chinese technology companies, based on percentage of revenue growth over a three-year
period.
Mr. Frank Pak Managing Director, Home of Swallows
Mr Pak finished his business management study in Canada, 1988. After that, he
returned to Hong Kong for estate development and investment works for 12 years.
In 1994, he received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University
of Leicester, UK. In 2000, he set up Home of Swallows. In May, 2000, Home of
Swallows has its first outlet in Ma On Shan. In the next two years, Home Of Swallows
had become a well-known brand in Hong Kong. Now, including six in the MTR stations,
there are totally 25 outlets in Hong Kong. In 2006, he started his business network
in Shenzhen and Macau.
Mr Pak is also ardent on social service. In 2006, he has served 18 community
organizations, including several chambers of commerce and youth affair organizations.
